My husband was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. His diagnosis wasn’t grim at the time and he has a great chance to get through it, but we wanted to see about having in home care for the times that he was down. We asked the doctor how we would go about getting care in home since hospice care wasn’t an option. Our doctor recommended checking into palliative nursing for the time being.
We had never really heard of any palliative nursing companies and wanted to check out our options and what insurance would cover as far as in home healthcare. I started seeking information and searching online to see what I could find out. I found several companies that offered palliative nursing, but wanted to hire only the best to come and care for my husband. I found lots of reviews about these companies and many of them were pretty good.
I wanted to check with some friends on social media to see if they had any experience hiring a company to provide palliative care. I went on Facebook and asked if anyone had experience with any of the companies. I heard about a few different companies and smaller local companies that provide nursing aides. I didn’t want a local company because I wasn’t sure that my insurance would cover that expense. I did hear lots of great things about Spectrum Health Care so I decided to check into their palliative care nursing.
I went online and researched a little more about Spectrum Healthcare and decided this would be a great company to get palliative care with. Then I realized I didn’t even check to see if my insurance offered coverage for their care. I called my medical insurance company to check with them and luckily they did cover the care we would need to get in home.
I called Spectrum Health Care to see how I would need to go about getting everything set up. They said they would have a representative call me back and tell me what I will need to do. Shortly after that, I got a phone call back. The guy I talked to was really nice and told me exactly what I would need to do to get set up. I got everything he told me I would need and he said he would get everything processed and get us set up with a nurse.
Within just a few hours, everything was getting set up and the nurse contacted me so they could come and do the first visit. Spectrum Health Care has been a great company to work with and they have done a fantastic job. They have given my husband the care he needs for now and he is doing fine thus far. He has a high chance of recovering just fine, but this care is necessary for right now. I feel more at ease with them caring for him and checking on his health.
